Think Positive

email

If you have read ‘The Secret’, you will probably understand the power of positive thinking. The main idea is that people unconsciously move towards getting what they are continuously thinking about. This is also one reason why I think it is so important to have a clear vision, as well as short-term and mid-term goals.

For example, if you strongly believe, deep inside, that you will get a new job with a 40% salary increase within the next 12 months, chances are more likely that it will come true, than if you would not focus on it. The unconscious mind is extremely powerful, and its main goal is direct a person in a direction it is willing to go, and in a direction the person believes in.

Problems arise, when the unconscious mind is in conflict with the conscious mind. The conscious mind, for example, might think about wanting to become a millionaire, whereas the unconscious mind might simultaneously think “I do not have what it takes to become a millionaire”. This kind of negative thinking is often the result of past experiences. This makes positive thinking even more important. In the end, it is well possible to re-program the unconscious mind, but this usually takes time and a lot of effort. Re-programming the unconscious mind can be achieved through positive affirmations, via collecting necessary experience, or in the worst case by consulting a therapist.

As constructive as positive thinking can be, as destructive negative thinking can be. This highlights the importance on remaining positive in all life situations. Not everything will always happen as you may have wanted it, but the big question is how a setback or a personal crisis is perceived. Do you look at it like a problem, constantly worrying and thinking about it, or is it being perceived as a challenge, and as a lesson learned?
